Performance

The four Currents collaborators sitting together on stage in front of a large sumi ink mural, lit in red and green stage light

This performance was created during my artist residency at Sikwin.

As a sumi ink performance artist, I collaborated with three local artists to explore the idea of everything flowing and merging through water. Using sumi ink, movement, music, and space, we created a live performance where each expression flowed into the next.

I collaborated with Respectful Child, who created abstract music inspired by the movement of water. We met through the same residency cohort, making this collaboration a unique connection made possible by the residency.

Dancer Aldeneil transformed their body into a brush by incorporating hidden sumi ink pockets into their costume. As water flowed through the fabric, ink spread across the paper, leaving behind abstract traces. I responded to these marks with my own brushwork, creating a visual conversation like ripples spreading across water.

The dreamlike stage installation by Abraham, inspired by their experience as a stage artist, brought all of our expressions together into one immersive experience. ink.
